At Hills Knights Football Club, we believe football should be a positive experience for every player, every week — and that starts with the sidelines.
This season, Hills Knights is proud to support Shoosh for Kids, a statewide campaign run by the NSW Office of Sport that promotes positive spectator behaviour at junior sport. The message is simple: if you don’t have anything nice to say, shoosh for kids.
Our coaches, referees, administrators, canteen staff, and first aid volunteers give up their time every weekend to make football happen. Our kids show up to learn, compete, and have fun. The environment we create on the sidelines has a direct impact on whether they keep coming back.
You’ll also see Shoosh for Kids signage displayed at Masonic Oval and Bella Vista Oval throughout the season, a reminder to all spectators and visitors that positive behaviour is a Hills Knights value, not just a campaign.
Here’s what we ask of every Hills Knights supporter this season:
- Keep your comments positive — directed at players, officials, and coaches alike
- Respect the referee’s decisions. They’re human, they’re volunteers, and they’re doing their best
- Encourage your child to listen to their coach, even when you might see it differently
- Remember: applause goes a long way. Negativity doesn’t
Junior sport is meant to be fun. Let’s make sure it stays that way for every player in our club.
