Like all community sports, Hills Knights Football Club is only possible through the actions and efforts of our volunteers, without whom there would be no sport for our kids. The coaches and managers are parents, like yourselves, and each game is made possible by Assistant Referees and Ground Marshals from each team.
The canteen, BBQ and grounds setup are all performed by parent volunteers. The club is run by a committee of volunteers who manage all aspects of the club administration throughout the year. Our club and the wider organisations we are a part of, such as Football NSW, are working hard to make it easier to contribute to our sport, and there are ever-expanding resources available to train and develop our volunteers for the role they want to perform, as well as developing a broader understanding of the game.
As a club, we actively seek ways to support our volunteers, especially our coaches. We recognise this can be daunting, and we have resources available to help you along the way. We are always looking for volunteers for:
- Committee positions
- Coaching
- Age Coordinators
- Managers
- Instructional Referees
- Ground Managers
- Assisting in the canteen & BBQ
- Ground set up and pack down
Some of these roles require registration via PlayFootball—simply check with any club official or committee member for guidance. Most club activities require a Working With Children number.
Working with Children
Working with Children Checks (WWCC) aim to create a child-safe environment and to protect children and young people involved in our sport from harm. It can include criminal history checks, signed declarations, referee checks and other relevant background checks.
Who needs a Working With Children Check?
Hills Knights Football Club requires a record of WWCC checks for all roles undertaken including but not limited to;
- Committee Members
- Age Coordinators
- Coaches
- Managers
- Any person who is a referee, umpire, linesperson, sporting official, or grounds-person requires a WWCC
A worker/volunteer who is under 18yrs does NOT require a WWCC.
Referees that attend a club more than 5 times a year require a WWCC.
How to Apply
As you are a volunteer, you are not required to pay any fee. These fees only apply to paid workers. Once you have completed the required documentation you must update your WWCC number in PlayFootball and to the Register to ensure that it is logged in to the WWCC register.
